A comprehensive list of regulations dealing with food product safety and applying to the entire food processing industry of the European Union has been in effect since January 1st 2006. These interdependent texts constitute the “Food Safety Package ” and regulate the limits of European food security. These food safety regulations integrate the 852/2004 rules concerning food production. This 852/2004 regulation recommends, amongst other things, the general application of the principles of risk analysis and the control of critical points according to the principles of HACCP for the food production industry.

This food safety package also relates to the first articles of the European regulation 178-2002 (in effect since 2005) in which strives to maintain a high level of health safety, the responsibilities of the industry and traceability as the first tool to ensure the security of food products and to maintain public confidence.

In order to adhere to these intensive food safety regulations LAFFORT OENOLOGIE has implemented a global system of quality management. The key element in our strategic development is to ensure excellent customer satisfaction by listening to their concerns and exceeding their expectations:

* Our certified ISO 9001 quality management system places customer satisfaction at the centre of our strategy and focuses on a process of continuous quality improvement.

* LAFFORT maintains a regulatory watchdog committee to focus on providing assurances to our customers with respect to the following elements:
o Traceability or products;
o GMO-free certification of products; and
o Guaranteed product origin.
These certificates are available on our downloading/certificates section.

* LAFFORT is extremely vigilant to ensure conformity of our oenological products with the International Oenological Codex, Food Chemical Codex, Regulation CE 96/77 on food additives. To achieve this, we maintain systematic controls throughout all processes according to defined procedures.

* Due to the increasing demands of customers who require IFS and/or BRC certification and the impending regulation (CE) 852/2004 (which, amongst other things, recommends the general application of HACCP methodology), Laffort has performed a comprehensive analysis of biological, physical, and chemical risks, including the identification of critical control points for the monitoring of all products related to the oenological industry according to the HACCP process.

Having achieved validation of the certified HACCP process (download the certificate) LAFFORT has now begun the process of ISO 22000 standards certification (European version of the Danish repository HACCP). This will better serve our customers with guarantees of quality and safety. We anticipate this certification shortly.
